The cast iron grill makes cooking faster, as the temperature is evenly distributed on all sides of the food. To maintain the cast iron grill before cooking, it is a good idea to apply a thin layer of cooking oil (e.g. olive oil or a vegetable fat) and you will have created a non-stick surface.
